C-Mon & Kypski tourdiary USA 2008 #5
Açıklama: You've made it to the fifth episode! This was an intense week for us The last show on the east coast was in Philadelphia, or as Kyp would say Illadelph Let's take a closer look to the map now where are we going? Oklahoma city? Isn't that 1500 miles (2400km) from here? In one and a half day? All aboard!! Roadkill, pfffweew we've seen a lot of dead animals Gladly we only had some flies and muskito's to remove from the windshield In Arkansas the lands were still flooded; it hadn't stopped raining since we past through it three weeks ago Thousands of people have been evacuated, we read in the papers Our wipers got so tired of the rain, we had to go to a garage to have them fixed The wind was so strong, it was terrifying to sleep in the RV at night I realised we were in the area where tornados are a common thing Finally we arrived in Oklahoma City The whole city was covered in a cloud of dust, the sun set at the horizon over the Big Plains, mildly illuminating the skyscrapers of OKC; it all looked like a soft-focus B-movie setting The show at The Conservatory didn't turn out to be like the name of the club would suggest; nothing schoolish about this one Filthy rock'n roll club, period Future Rock, for whom we opened at the Metro in Chicago, was in OKC too It was fun hanging out with those guys More driving Boulder, Colorado is next Another 14 hour drive ahead of us, prior to a late night show No stops, just eat miles Cruise control comes in handy whith driver changes 1 band, 1 driver It's all spiritual you know! From Boulder, where the Rocky Mountains start, we drove to the Grand Canyon to chill out After the past exhausting weeks, that was just what we needed And how beautiful it was! The beauty of these natural-made skyscrapers totally sweep away Manhattan, oh yeah We took a hike down one of the 3 entrance trails Kip, Dan and myself were wearing flipflops, which caught the attention of many hikers Most of them were equipped with supersolid boots, water infuses and nordic walking sticks On a nice cliff halfway down the GC (Kyp lingo for Grand Canyon) we spent some time making love to the camera, chatting with the local squirrl, and enjoying the view Spirits way up high, we decided to spend the night in Las Vegas, which was only 5 hours away The first thing that comes to mind when entering Vegas, is what a f*cking circus! Not surprisingly, the first casino we stopped at was called Circus Circus One buck was our devastating bet We lost it in 4 seconds Watching all the lonely people sitting behind the slots didn't make us put more money to the table Let's explore instead! The casinos are so big, it's hard to comprehend We found out this one had an indoor fun-fair, with rollercoasters and everything It was closed, but we managed to get in through a half opened fence 10 bucks for the one who turns on the rollercoaster! The same night we left Vegas, not the way Nicholas Cage did though With Las Vegas behind, and Los Angeles ahead, we enjoyed the Mojave desert under a nightsky full of stars, and morningair filled with Dan's new banjo sounds Stay tuned, last episode next week So long, rangers
